The cocoa ceremony
Traditionally, this ceremony was meant to help communities unite, share, connect and also to sow positive intentions and manifestations for the coming natural cycles to help produce healthy crops and abundance in all forms. Cocoa was also used for spiritual, medicinal and ceremonial purposes for inner awakening and creative guidance. To this day, many cultures still use cocoa ceremonially, and more recently, this ancient knowledge and practices have been brought to the Western world, especially in holistic, spiritual, and wellness communities.
A cocoa ceremony is an opportunity to connect with yourself on a deeper level and with those who share the ceremony journey with you. Cocoa offers great insights, creativity and inspiration. It is well known for its heart-opening properties and also for its mood-enhancing effects. Cocoa ceremonies also offer an opportunity for deep healing, introspection, goal-setting, self-love and transformation.
We recommend doing this ceremony after a meditative or yoga session, using the holy pole to restore inner balance and lighting candles and other instruments to facilitate meditation.
How to prepare ceremonial cocoa
Here’s how to make a ceremonial cup of cocoa at home:
- 30gr cocoa
- 150 ml coconut milk or your choice
- 2 tablespoons coconut sugar, honey, agave (optional)
- Spezie: vaniglia, cannella, noce moscata, chiodi di garofano, cardamomo, sale di Himalaya, 4-5 grani di pepe nero di Jamaica (si può mettere in bustina di carta per non filtrare)
Finely chop the cocoa and add it to a saucepan along with the spices and milk. Cook over low heat but do not bring to a boil. Strain through a very fine strainer or nut-milk bag, alternatively you can use a paper strainer to skip this step. Now the ceremonial cocoa is ready!
