Honey Red (Black) Tea 60 gr

Red (Black) Honey Tea comes from a garden in Puer Prefecture, Yunnan: this particular batch was harvested and processed between spring and summer. As with Oriental Beauty oolong tea, the leaves are harvested after the cicada has bitten them: this has the effect of stimulating the plant to defend itself, emitting aromatic terpenes that give the tea an incredibly sweet and smooth taste. However, it differs from oolong teas because it is completely oxidized. The liquor delights the palate with sweet notes of honey, hence the name “Honey.”

Tasting – Sight and smell

Honey red tea has whole, rolled leaves that are small in size and rather sturdy. The color is a deep brown with brown hues, with many golden buds and the presence of a few sprigs. Once infused, they give off aromas of wood and dark honey, as well as mineral notes and a hint of cooked eggplant. The liquor is between dark orange and brown with amber highlights, medium transparent.

Tasting Notes

The first notes of Honey red tea are sweet and malty, with hints of chestnut honey and cocoa. There is then a hint of floral (rose) with a finish of resin and balsamic wood. The persistence is long, with malt notes that leave a pleasant sweetness on the tongue. The body is of medium density, round and enveloping, with no trace of bitterness or astringency.

Brewing method

We recommend infusing this tea in a cup with a capacity of about 250-300 ml. With 4 grams of leaves, it is possible to make multiple infusions that are useful for best tasting all the flavors of the tea.

You can proceed with an initial infusion of 2-3 minutes with water at 90°C and reuse the same leaves to make subsequent infusions, keeping the water at the same temperature, and increasing the time of the previous infusion by about 20-30 seconds.

This tea allows for about 2-3 infusions.
