How to best store your tea

Knowing how best to store your tea and herbal teas is probably one of the most important notions: whether it is a pu’er, a white tea, or even a fragrant blend of herbs and fruits, if it is not stored in the best possible way, it is possible for it to lose its fragrance over time.

Picking up any bag of tea we always read a phrase like “store in a cool, dry place”; this should be our mantra, especially in these hot summer months during which it becomes increasingly difficult to find a place that stays cool and dry all day.

How do I store the tea then?

Coming to the point, tea preservation is simple: just follow a few rules:

  1. no to light;
  2. no to air;
  3. no to moisture;
  4. No to proximity to spices or foods with intense odors;
  5. No to temperature changes;
  6. Yes to dry places;
  7. No to non-breathable plastic containers;
  8. ideally, tea, both leaf and bagged, should be stored in tightly sealed tin cans.
