Dried Codonopsis Root Radix Codonopsis (Dangshen) was traditionally used in traditional Chinese medicine to restore energy, strengthen the immune system, lower blood pressure and improve appetite in China, Japan and Korea.
This Codonopsis root helps the immune system and gives energy, allowing us to clear and calm the mind. This means that it can help your body fight everyday stress. Some say this root is the ginseng of the poor, as it shares its benefits. Codonopsis is supposed to be similar in action to ginseng, but is milder and has a shorter effect. It is recommended for those who find ginseng too strong a tonic and is used interchangeably with ginseng in Chinese herbal formulas. It is also used as an ingredient in home recipes for soups and steamed dishes. In China it is better known as Dang Shen, a tonic for nourishing vitality.
Ingredients
Codonopsis root.
How to use
We recommend making an infusion of one root in 300ml of water at 100°C, leaving it for an hour in the infused water before drinking. Drink a cup before each meal for best results.
These roots have a pleasantly sweet, nut-like flavor and can be eaten as a snack. After eating a pencil-sized piece of Dang Shen, one feels shiny and invigorated. In China, this plant is widely used as a tonic while breastfeeding.
However, we invite you to consult an expert in phytotherapy or acupuncture, to evaluate your personal situation, before consuming this root: only with the correct doctor-patient relationship is it possible to find a cure and above all manage it in the best possible way for each specific case.
