The brick of Wu Liang Legend 2021 Shu Puer tea has a smooth and sweet taste, reminiscent of underbrush notes. In the cup it is clear and a beautiful bright red color. This puer shu is a Mao Cha subjected to an accelerated fermentation process: using this process, it takes about 2-3 years to obtain a high quality puer tea. During these years, the bitterness, leaf stiffness, smell and mold taste that permeate the leaf leave it completely. Few, in fact, know that the taste we perceive in tea is influenced not only by leaf quality and harvest period, but also by little-known factors, such as bacterial culture, fermentation organization, etc.
Wu Liang Legend 2021 shares with most puer teas a distinctive fermented flavor, with hints of damp earth, despite having a relatively short fermentation time, which began in 2019. Our advice for this tea, being quite young, is to keep it aside for at least two years to give it time to ripen and age.
This organic tea comes from Zhengwan village in the famous autonomous province of Puer.
Tasting – Sight and smell
Wu Liang Legend 2021 Shu Puer tea comes in brick form with pressed leaves of various shades of brown, from the darkest brown to light brown. Once infused, the leaves smell of damp earth, wet wood with anise tips. In the cup the color is a deep red with amber highlights, incredibly clear for a puer shu tea.
Tasting Notes
GONG FU CHA
The first infusion of Wu Liang Legend 2021 Shu Puer tea is sweet, with rather distinct hints of anise and fennel. Already with the second infusion the body becomes denser and we find notes of leather and almost camphor. These hints remain in the third and subsequent infusions: the leather notes become more intense and there is even more hints of humus and sweetness, which envelops the palate and lingers.
WESTERN
The first sip of Wu Liang Legend 2021 shu puer tea has wild fennel as its first distinctive note, followed by a marked sweetness with slight hints of anise. Notes of underbrush come later, with hints of damp wood and wet earth. Ultimately, hints of leather and strong camphorate notes remain on the palate, closing in a long and sweet persistence, devoid of astringency or bitterness.

How to prepare
We strongly recommend infusing Wu Liang Legend 2021 Shu Puer tea in the traditional Chinese method (gong fu cha) to best enjoy these leaves. Following this preparation, 4 grams of leaves (about 3 teaspoons) can be used in a gaiwan of about 100 ml to obtain several infusions with different tastes. After a quick rinsing of the leaves in water at 100°C, you can proceed with a first infusion of 10 seconds and, after which, keeping the water at the same temperature, proceed with multiple infusions, each time increasing the time by 5 seconds (10 – 15 – 20 …)
This tea has a longevity of about 5 infusions.
For a classic preparation according to the western style we suggest 2 grams of leaves (about 1 teaspoon) in a 150 ml cup with water at 100°C for an infusion time of one minute and a half.
The tea can be filtered for greater ease at the moment of tasting, and also the infusion times indicated above are intended to be purely indicative, so you can also adjust according to your personal taste.
It is recommended that Wu Liang Legend 2021 shu puer tea be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
