Lucky figurine of Lu Yu who is the recognized tea saint in China.
Who was Lu Yu?
Born in 733 AC of the Tang Dynasty, Luyu composed the world’s first book on tea, which is called The Tea Canon. Many tea experts/lovers are deeply influenced by and have learned from this book. Lu Yu teaches that the circumstances and place of the tasting are merely incidental, and it is therefore possible to vary the etiquette according to the environment, the number of guests and their rank: next to a stream among the pine trees, one can do without many things, “but if, in a city, in the presence of a king or duke, even one of the twenty-four prescribed instruments is missing, then it is better to give up making tea altogether.”
