Ru blue porcelain set decorated with rope-colored ornamental greek, consisting of a teapot equipped with a steel filter and two cups.
“…like the blue of the sky in a clearing in the clouds after rain.”
For perfect brewing, the teapot should be made of porcelain or ceramic, never metal so as not to alter the flavor of the tea. Also, it should never be washed with detergent or in the dishwasher, but with boiling water and baking soda.
Ru porcelain
The glaze, applied in numerous layers, continues over both the upper and lower edges, as opposed to the rival Ding porcelain, which was fired upside down and thus had a rough edge without glaze, often covered with a metal band. Colors vary, and were divided and classified by Chinese scholars into “sky blue,” “pale blue,” and “egg blue,” in each case employing the Chinese word 青, qīng, meaning both “blue” and “green.” Capacity: teapot 200 ml, cups 160 ml.
